We now have an exciting opportunity for a Seasonal Ranger to join the CNPA supporting the delivery of the National Park Partnership Plan, working with partners to encourage people to have a safe, enjoyable and responsible visit to Cairngorms National Park.
The Role:
As a Seasonal Ranger you will work with visitors & residents providing on hand communication and advice; talking with people in clear, positive, engaging, persuasive and easily understood ways to encourage responsible outdoor access, meaning you will ensure that both visitors and residents get the most value from their time in the National Park.
You will work in partnership with public and private partners that manage the area and local communities, meaning you will develop great working relationships with various groups, people and communities around the CNP.

About You:
To be considered as one of our Seasonal Rangers, you’ll need:
• In depth geographical knowledge of the “outdoors”
• Thorough understanding of the complexities of access and land management issues in the Cairngorms National Park
• Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills with a clear ability to communicate well with a range of audiences & deal with challenging situations
• A passion for, and experience of, encouraging a wide range of people to responsibly enjoy the outdoors
• Ability to work alone, without supervision, along with excellent team and partnership working skills
• Current UK Driving Licence
• Access to a vehicle insured for use on road in the role (mileage reimbursed at standard Scottish Government rates)
• Flexible approach to working hours as regular evening, morning and weekend working will be required.
• Physically fit and able/willing to work outside in all weather conditions
• Permission to work in the UK
Please note, the successful candidate will be required to gain Disclosure Scotland PVG membership.
Knowledge of the outdoors in the Cairngorms area/locality of work, an understanding of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act and the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, experience of working as part of a team in outdoor and countryside activities, problem solving skills, flexibility & resourcefulness, qualification in relevant subject e.g. countryside working or outdoor skills, appreciation of the values, roles and responsibilities of a National Park in Scotland, existing PVG Disclosure Certificate, First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid course, basic countryside management and maintenance skills would be beneficial to your application.
